John King

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King was appointed by Governor Brian P. Kemp in 2019 and elected to the position in 2022. A native of Mexico, King is Georgia’s first Hispanic statewide elected official. King is also a major general in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a commander in combat theaters in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, and Afghanistan. King joined the Atlanta Police Department in 1985 and was Doraville’s chief of police before serving in state government.
