Enroll in Hunter Education Course
Visit the Department of Natural Resources website to learn more about hunter education requirements and course options.
You must complete a hunter education course before purchasing a season-long hunting license in Georgia.
Residents and non-residents born on or after January 1, 1961, are required to successfully complete a hunter education course prior to purchasing a season-long license. However, this requirement doesn't apply to those purchasing an apprentice or short-term license.
Hunter education certifications issued by any U.S. state wildlife agency or Canadian province are accepted. Additionally, hunter education isn't required to hunt on your own land or on land owned by a parent or guardian.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources offers in-person classroom courses at no cost, as well as approved online options that may include a fee. After completing the course, you'll receive a certificate of completion that doesn't expire. Be sure to keep a copy for your records. You'll need the certificate number when applying for a season-long hunting license.
