    You can cancel your vehicle registration online or in person.

    Military Personnel

    Military personnel who are deployed may voluntarily cancel their vehicle registration if the vehicle will not be driven during deployment.

    You must cancel your vehicle registration before canceling your insurance coverage.

    Reinstating Your Registration After Deployment

    To reinstate your vehicle registration, visit your county tag office and provide:

    • Payment of all ad valorem taxes and any applicable registration fines
    • Proof of Georgia motor vehicle liability insurance
    • A completed, signed, and notarized Form MV-18G service member's affidavit for mandatory insurance relief. The "certification of service member's commanding officer" section must be completed and signed.
    • Proof of emissions inspection, if required in your county
